FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
BELOW ARE A LIST OF COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS. IF YOU ARE STILL UNABLE TO FIND THE ANSWER YOU NEED, CONTACT US DIRECTLY! WE ARE HAPPY TO HELP!
Is this a contest?
No. We’re just opening up our inbox. Views and likes of the ten chosen pilots will help our decision, but we reserve the right to choose whatever shows we decide to create a season for.
What kind of programming are you looking for?
Creative.
Is there any kind of a submission fee?
No. We want to watch as many pitches as possible for our first season. We can’t offer feedback at this time, but anyone we commission a pilot episode from will be given creative notes (that they will be free to tear up).
Who has creative control of my project?
You’re the showrunner. We are the producers who are here to help you with your obstacles and offer solutions. We will give you advice, but we want your vision to shine through.
Are you looking for anything outside of a web series?
At this time, no. It’s not that we’re not interested, but we want to focus on episodic entertainment at this time.
What are you looking for in a pitch?
Your pitch should be a brief and engaging video. It should explain the premise of the show and a sense of your project’s style. A onesheet outlining the direction of your envisioned series would help us see the direction you’re planning on taking it.
What kind of equipment/experience do I need?
At this time, you’ll need everything a small crew would need. Your budget can be allocated for equipment by your Executive Producer, or we’ll work to provide you with any speciality equipment. We are looking for industry standard quality, so experience does help.
How do I know you won't take my idea?
Isn’t that always the concern in our work? No we will never compete with your intellectual property. We will not disclose your ideas, modify or otherwise, as they say in legal terms, “screw you over.” If you have a great idea, we’re going to show you your office.
What happens if I’m chosen to make a pilot?
You’ll be given two months to make it, and you’ll receive a hundred and fifty dollar budget. Your pilot will air on our channel with 9 other series. We then allow a small period for fans to voice their opinions, and for us to choose two or more series to green light.
What if my pitch/pilot isn’t chosen?
Pitch it again next time around. We want to see you mold the idea and make it better. Or bring us something entirely different at Channel Fluxx, we want to give you that opportunity you’ve always dreamed about.
How long do I have and what do I need when I direct my series/pilot?
We’re expecting six months to script, shoot, edit and deliver your completed six episodes. For your pilot, you’ll have a couple of months to perfect it. You’ll be given a list of deliverables describing the specifics of what we need delivered, including documentation, releases and promotional material.
What do I get when my show succeeds?
I like your enthusiasm. Our success is your success; creators will receive residuals based on viewership, ranging between 30% to 50%.
What if YouTube ___________?
We have your back. YouTube copyright program has problems, but we have years of experience navigating around this turbulent system. When it comes to the backend stuff, you can leave that to us. We’ll worry about SQI, promoting and tweeting. You focus on creating the best content you can.
What do you hope the future holds for Channel Fluxx?
A network with a wide range of original shows, ranging from amazing documentaries to sitcoms about sentient dogs living in Jupiter’s core. Our primary focus is to create fantastic programming that transcends cultural borders, shattering expectations, and ah, you get the idea. Really just a network fans can be passionate about.
